Witness the Power of My Tedious Finger!

I'm sitting in Starbucks ruthlessly exploiting their wireless access with my new iPod touch. (Or perhaps I'm the one being exploited, since they charge for access.) And I'm listening to Circus Maximus. Badass.

It's more forgiving than I thought (and that goes for pressing virtual buttons in general). Still slow, but that's only to be expected. And I was only using one finger to type. I don't know how the iPod touch would behave if one tried to use two thumbs with it, and I found myself fairly content to use one finger anyway.

There's an add-on (for the iPhone) out there to give the keyboard an option for drawing characters during input, but it looks clumsy (admittedly, it's in the earliest stages). I would be very happy if someone built a Graffiti add-on. And it would stand to reason some alternative keyboards similar to what's available for Palm will find their way to the iPod touch.

One thing I found missing that really ought to come in a software update from Apple is clipboard support. I wanted to copy/paste a URL and got nowhere. Paper and additional typing makes an adequate substitute, but the lack of a clipboard surprises me.

In any case, I'm sure I'll develop a wishlist of potential upgrades for the iPod touch, but in the meantime I'm really digging it.
