Ask me about my rabbit

Realizing that we still haven't gotten around to the Christmas 2008 writeups, which will eventually happen, really, I present "last weekend was awesome like whoa, yo."

It started Friday afternoon (1/16) on our way home from work, when we saw another car with the same bumper sticker as my truck ("Partnership for an Idiot-Free America") and made an attempt to ride alongside for as long as we could, for the benefit and wtfery of drivers behind us. It continued with a tasty dinner of tuna sandwiches and roasted red pepper/tomato soup, except without the expense of going to Panera and all the sit-on-my-butt-at-home qualities of making it at home.

On Saturday morning (1/17), bunny was super hoppy and energetic (as is her habit early in the morning). I laid down on the hallway floor, and she crawled up between me and the wall and laid down next to me. So cute.

Around 9:45 a.m., we went to Ticketmaster.com to wait for some tickets to go on sale at 10 - the Elton John/Billy Joel tour has a date in Indianapolis, and I told Aaron I would buy him tickets as an early birthday/anniversary gift (since I've had his Valentine's gift for several weeks, and the concert is nine days before his birthday). We tried immediately at 10, and several times shortly after, and every time, no dice on the lowest-priced tickets - and this after waiting in the "line" each time for five to ten minutes. We kind of gave up after that and I told him I would find him something else as a gift. He went downstairs to play Lost Odyssey, and I hung around upstairs, showering and internetting. Around 11:10, I decided to try for tickets again, largely for the lolz - and I'm guessing they didn't even put the cheap tickets on sale till 11, because now they were readily available with almost no wait. I yelled for Aaron to come upstairs, and I went ahead and bought a pair. Yay!

Around noon, we headed out for a bit. First to the bank to cash my check, then Pet Supplies Plus for more bunny food (no luck finding the one we were looking for), then Wal-Mart, where we bought shelving for the downstairs closet and a metric assload of Slimfast cans on sale. (Thanks Andy - we used the gift card he gave us for Christmas to get those.) Then we stopped at K-Mart, hoping to find some heavily clearanced Zune 30 accessories, since Aaron recently picked one up with Gamestop credit. No dice on that, but I saw they were having a footwear clearance, and came out with a pair of slippers, just the kind I like and very warm, for $5.

In the late afternoon, we took a long impromptu nap, then headed out to the mall, intended to look for clearanced Zune 30 accessories at FYE. We used the entrance through Sears to get there, and in the end we never got past Sears, since we found the exact Zune case we were looking for on clearance ($2) there instead - for my Zune, since, in a story not yet shared in my LJ, things have turned around at my job and I can use my Zune again, which means I've been loading up on podcasts and spending my days happier than before.

Came home, played with the rabbit, ate southwestern "egg" rolls for supper, got to sleep around 11:30.

On Sunday (1/18), we first heard the bunny bouncing around her pen at 5:45 a.m. Noisy bun is noisy! We went back to sleep, and let her out for her morning run at 7:45, during which active bun was active.

Later in the morning we went to Meijer, where I picked up a prescription and we got lots of food - soda, salad, pasta sauce, flavored cream cheese, pizza rolls. When we got back, we brought the bunny downstairs to play in her big pen. She hopped around and seemed pretty happy, despite being a daysleeper. Half an hour later, we played Rock Band 2 quietly for a while, and she decided she hated us. Bunny's musical sensibilities are offended by our plastic guitars. Eventually she got to go back upstairs and be emo by herself like she wanted. Aaron watched the football game, and we had tuna quesadillas as a late lunch.

I guess that actually doesn't sound very interesting at all, but it was a really nice weekend. This weekend was also nice, involving a big shopping trip for the bunny - a brush that she hates, nail clippers she hates but that we succeeded in using, wicker baskets to destroy, hay and litter. Saturday night we cornered her and I managed to get her scooped up into a good position for Aaron to trim her claws. Her little pose of surrender was pathetic but cute, and we got sixteen claws trimmed. She was rewarded with several dried cranberries and lots of effusive praise, and spent the rest of the evening (until almost 11) not hating us, and in fact being pretty cute and affectionate. At one point Aaron lay down on the carpet, and I lay down nearby facing him, and Jessica hopped over to sniff and investigate, then proceeded to flop onto the ground near us so the whole family was flopped down together. Aaron got up and took a picture, found here.

Behind the cut is some video he took of her racing around in usual fashion this morning.

married life, jessica
