I should never do this, but I do. (HP7 ending spoilers)

Read yesterday's Penny-Arcade, and thought, okay, I have seen the old guy in another PA, but where?

Not a question the search function was likely to solve, I dropped into the PA forums and went to the abyss that is Social Entropy++ to check whether there had been anything about it in the new comic thread. Which there had, question solved.

But there was also an HP7 thread within SE++, and I chose to randomly click through it.

Apparently somewhere around the middle of the thread people had posted links to spoilers, before release.

Apparently one of them was photographs of portions of the epilogue.

To which someone responded, with a response hilarious in retrospect, "If it's the epilogue, I'm pretty sure that's fake, for three reasons. One: The writing style seems off. Two: SERIOUSLY ACTUAL SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT LOOK AWAY

Three kids in 19 years seems a bit much, seeing as Harry and Ginny are only 17 and 16 at the end of Book 7. Also, one of them is named Albus Severus? Come on. Annnnd Three: The last lines are (Apparently, I didn't look that far in the "scans": "The scar hadn't burnt for 19 years and all is well." Based on all the death, I'd guess that all is NOT well. The whole ending seems a little too cheery."

HAHAHAHA I know, I too wish it was fake

Is it so wrong that, after seven books and some several dozen important characters, I wanted an epic Garp-style epilogue? Because now that I think about it, that's what I'd always, always expected from the end of book 7 - even before I'd read Garp. It didn't seem to me like there was any other way she could have possibly wrapped it up. (For those unfamiliar with The World According to Garp, other examples of that kind of epilogue would include, say, the Fire Emblem games, except imagine more than three or four lines apiece, more like several pages, or at least several paragraphs apiece, even for the most minor of named characters.)

I mean, she still could have established all the same facts that are already in the epilogue, just organized the whole thing differently, and I'd have been SO much happier with it. But as it is now, the book could have ended after chapter 36 and I'd have been more okay with that than with the mess of epilogue we DID get.
