I'm home!
NYC was a blast, but a crazy one. I was always torn between having fun with the fam, and then realizing that I'd be coming home with one less member.
Yup, Charlotte's up there, now. It's funny, I haven't really felt too strongly about going to school up there until now. Not that I don't miss Mack terribly, but it is a little different with Charlotte.
No breakdowns as of yet, though. Last night I was too tired for one, so we'll see when it all hits the fan. Probably not tonight though, either, because Mack is driving into town with his band (they're touring) and I'm going to half Labor-Day hamburgers with the uncle! Yay!
Oh, and I never announced this: I go the part of Fraulein Kost in the Entertainers production of Cabaret. Exciting, no? I'll admit I wanted a bigger part, but hey, better luck next time. And Kost is very interesting. She's funny, a little sad, and very mysterious. At least, to me she is.
Speaking of singing and all that, I met with the good folks of BMI up there in the Big Apple. I gave them a CD which I'll also be selling soon, and I sang for them live. I think I did really well, a great first impression for those who had just met me. I got a lot of compliments on my voice and the song that won the scholarship, but the best thing was that they said they'd listen to the CD. Some of these people get CD's 24/7, so the fact that they really will listen to it.
And I think I've stumbled upon a new Dallas venue! It's called White Rock Coffee (I hear that it's better and cheaper than Starbucks, OMG!) and they have live music a bunch. So, they'll be getting a CD, too, and I hope Dad and I can play there. I think that'd be fun.
Also--and this is for people who don't live in Dallas--I'm getting a website set up! So, more people can buy the CD and hear it! I don't know when it'll be, but it's going to be great. Selling music online is really the only way to do it these days, with behemoths like Clear Channel ruining the radio every day. Oy.
I bought lots of cool thing in New York! Not to totally change the subject, but I now have a pair of cute, green flat shoes, and I kick-ass pair of heels for my DJO performance. I'm sycked. I also got two purses, finally retiring my old one. I really like them both, they're that kind of big, round model. One shiny silver and the other a light brown. So nice.
And on another random note, IS ANYONE ELSE AS PUMPED AS I AM ABOUT THE MOVIES COMING OUT THIS MONTH? Serenity, Corpse Bride, RENT, the list goes on, poeple! I am monumentally pumped.
And now I'm going to go watch more tennis. Love!
