IHOP/serving

Well, I seem to be doing good work at my job. I still take forever to leave, but *shrug* I never claimed to be fast. I hate all the side work that servers are required to do. I still can't handle a lot of tables, either. I struggle with just three. On the other hand, the few tables that I do get give me really good comments. I even make them laugh, and I manage to keep my voice at a relaxed pitch. Yesterday, when our hostess left, I brought two people to a table, and then I went all absent-minded and walked off with the menus. I went back to the table and smiled, "You'll have to forgive me, I can be a bit absent minded sometimes." I began handing them the menus, "I believe menus are somewhat useful." They were amused. Two of my tables liked me well enough to leave me 6/7 dollar tips. At IHOP, that's quite the good tip, especially for just two people (I'm satisfied with a dollar per person).
I have been making a lot of mistakes, and I have been using that to my advantage. Who would have thought I was capable of such maneuvering? I didn't.
I even caught one of the servers giving me a little smile as she watched me work. It was uplifting.
I'm not making a lot of money (perhaps a little above minimum wage), but as I said, I can only handle a limited number of tables, right now. Anyway, I'm going to try not to worry about money. I'll probably make $2000 this summer, and that'll be it. I wanted to make more, but *shrug* Dad's not going to let me pay him back for classes, so I don't have anything to do with my money, anyway. Perhaps I'll put it into his account in secret. *grin*.

I finished Witch Hunter Robin, yesterday. I like that anime a lot. I like Robin a lot. I like the Amon/Robin scenes, too.

Shana update: Shana has officially joined the Navy. Dad and Jay are going up to visit her this week, and she even called me for advice on what to get them as gifts (Dad's birthday just passed, Jay's is coming up). Things are looking up. I'm kind of excited, even though I'm not going.
