(no subject)
I really don't understand the American election. I mean, it seems to be going on for years - when are they actually putting a cross on a bit of paper to say 'this is the man i want to run the country'? Yes, i am fully aware that's a gross over-simplication. But I haven't watched the Daily Show since....well, it must be about 6 months, and they were going on about the election then. It was about the time of Super Tuesday, and in my mind that meant that the actual proper voting ought to be taken care of in the next week, or at least in the same month.
Okay, shut up, i know nothing of the American electoral system - I'm British. Our system may be idiosyncratic, but....no, i can't really think of a positive way to end that sentence. Our justification for our system seems to be "it's worked (in an unfair, biased-towards-the-big-two-parties kind of way) so far, so it'll continue to work (in an unfair, biased way) in the future!"
On a completely different topic - the one i meant to talk about before getting sidetracked by livejournal's incredibly patronising yet effective 'Writer's Block? Here are some ideas, you small-minded child' thingy on the main page - i'm going paintballing tomorrow. I really don't want to go. I'm going because i like Anthony and i want to be there for his birthday, but i don't like getting shot by pellets of paint.
Oh, and we're going to pizza hut afterwards, which would be lovely, except that we'll all be sweaty and covered in paint and miserable. And anthony's gone and invited two people called Matt and Pat [i think his real name is Martin, no idea why everyone calls him Pat] who none of us like. Actually, i don't think Anthony even likes them. Does he really have so few friends that he can't scrape together seven people willing to go on a free paintballing trip. He's invited Jordan, who he's never even met before - but three o us do know him, and i accidentally suggested it because i thought we were talking about something else.
And Alex absolutely hates Matt&Pat, and doesn't want to go because of that; Stuart doesn't like them either and has been a little off with Anthony because he whines so much; I don't want to go because i don't like the idea of paintballing; Jordan doesn't like the idea of going to some guy who he's never met before's birthday........
Tomorrow is not going to be fun.
