Orchids
I had never gotten orchids before. I
remember my first orchid. I had to tear open my piggy bank and buy it myself. It
was for Science, in the 4th grade. We had to examine their parts and such.
The richest girl in town, Natalia,
my first 'worst enemy'. Lol ... I was her worst enemy. I never tried to
make her life impossible. I encountered her mother at the florist shop, and she
asked if I was buying the orchid I was holding in my hand at the moment. I
nodded and she said: I'm gonna get my daughter one just like it.
Her mother was one of the
stupidiest woman I knew at the time. Always thinking she was better than anyone
else. Natalia was the only one with a computer and a 2-story house in town. The
next day at school, everyone admred my orchid. White, with some violet in, and
beautiful little 'freckles' thrown in here and there. everyone else's were red.
I didn't know we were supposed to pick a common one. Natalia walked in the room
and pointed at my orchid saying: What a copy catter, she has the same one as me.
I smiled and told her in
a soft tone that I had seen her mom yesterday. She rolled her eyes and said:
what's your point?
"Well, she really liked
the orchid I picked. She said she would get you one just like mine, so you see..
I'm not a copy catter. Know some facts before you plan to put someone
down."
Laughter filled the
classroom. She was furious. Quickly she walked up to me as I was on my way to my
seat. She snatched the orchid out of my hand and threw it on the ground, then
tried to kick it. I stared at her thinking of what to do next. Should I kick
this bitch in the face? Does she not know that this flower, as any other plant,
feels? I crouched down and picked up the poor orchid while looking up
at Natalia. I could hear Jhon's voice in the background, asking Natalia why she
had done it. Natalia told him to shut up and stormed off, tossing her orchid on
the floor. Jhon said he was sorry and followed her. I picked up her orchid as
well and took care of hers, since mine was destroyed.
I got the most beautiful
orchids in the mail today, from mi principito. They made my day
