Title:Sixth sense
Fandom:The Chronicles of Narnia
Prompt:#35, Sixth sense
Summary: Edmund's 6th sense is specifically tuned... ;)
Author's Notes: My first Narnia fic, so be gentle :P This is just a random bit of fluff, honestly. I hope you'll enjoy it :)

For as long as he could remember, Edmund knew when one of his siblings was hiding something from him. Maybe it was because he hid so many things himself, maybe he was just a good observer. It didn’t matter. What mattered was that at this very moment his lovely, sweet baby sister was keeping him away from something he wanted.

“Come on, Lucy, where is it?”, he asked for what seemed like the twentieth time. They were sitting in her chamber, lazing away a bright Sunday afternoon. Edmund had plenty of time, he could wait till he found out what he wanted to know.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she answered, her eyes sparkling with laughter. Edmund gave here a pointed look and, in that infuriating I’m-older-so-I-know-I’m-right tone of voice that guaranteed to make Queen Lucy the Valiant stomp her foot and pout, he said:

“Lucy. I can smell it all over this chamber. You know I *always* get my hands on it anyway.” His sister, who has recently turned thirteen, rolled her eyes in a truly teenage fashion.

“Oh, come off it, Edmund! I didn’t hide them.”

“Aha!” Edmund exclaimed in triumph, pointing an accusatory finger at Lucy. “So there *was* something to be hidden!” He smirked seeing Lucy fidget awkwardly. She bit her lower lip a little and finally admitted that Edmund was, in fact, right. Again.

“All right, all right! I helped the cook make the deserts.”

“And?”

“And we did make cream cakes.”

“And?”

“And I should have known better than to lie to the new head of the kingdom’s espionage and investigations' department.” Proving her widely praised maturity Lucy stuck her tongue out at her brother, who in her opinion looked much too smug. “Funny”, she continued. “You always fall for it when we’re pulling a prank on you but you can see right through me when I’m hogging candy.”

“It’s a talent, little sister.” He winked at her getting up from the armchair he’s been occupying. It was high time to visit the kitchens before someone kidnapped his precious cream cakes.

“Edmund, where are you going?”, Lucy’s anxious tone didn’t earn even a single glance back. Some things have priorities, after all.

“To the kitchens, of course.”

“But Peter said...” She stopped when she realized that she made another stupid slip. A tremendous urge to bang her head against the wall overcame Lucy.

But that *did* stop Edmund at the door.

“Oh? What did Peter say?”

His calm interest told Lucy that it’s time to run for it.

“Umm... is it to late to convince you that he said ‘have a nice day’?” Not that she thought a sweet smile and innocent tone would work on Edmund...

“Much too late”

...but it was worth trying.

“Is dear Peter holding out on me?”

‘Oh, well. At least I’ll be there when the colorful fireworks start’, she thought.

“Hesaidyou’regettingtoofatfromeatingallthosesweets”, Lucy threw it all out on one breath as if she was afraid that she might not finish the sentence if she got the opportunity to pause between words.

“He said WHAT?!” Edmund’s outrage really did deserve all those decibels but honestly, he screamed like a girl when he was so angry.

“He said that...”, Lucy winced when he cut her off.

“I heard you! That sneaky, insensitive...” Edmund stomped off to find the eldest Pevensie.

Lucy decided that it would only be fair to warn Peter and Susan. While Edmund and herself were quite intuitive, Peter and Susan wouldn’t know trouble coming if it sent public notifications... Mumbling to herself about chubby and vain elder brothers, she went of in search of Queen Susan and King Peter.
