Well, last night was the episode where Danny was exposed to sarin (lol, I nearly typed "sauron") and Steve was all worried about him. Lord, that scene was just wonderful, the way Steve seemed to run at top speed to Danny's side, despite the fact that Danny was not that far away from him, the say he helped Danny out of his vest and looked at him in

I, too, though Steve looked more than a little... deflated, and working to cover it, when he arrived at the hospital expecting to pick Grace up and instead found Rachel asleep on Danny's shoulder, and there seemed a definite *point* to Steve's "So... you and Rachel.. how long has this been going on?" and "Were you *ever* going to tell me?"
Mind you, I've thought for a while that Steve's been increasingly unsure of where he stands with Danny -- that whole business with the brown paper bag seemed less about the bag specifically than about Steve fearing Danny was keeping secrets from him, or omitting things Steve felt they should be discussing. Steve's definitely threatened by the idea of Danny's continued pining for NJ, and the fact that Danny has yet to say there's anything other than Grace holding him in Hawaii.
I have to admit I'm basing a lot of my views on Steve and his relationship with Danny on how Alex views that relationship -- to Alex, back last September, Steve's relationship with Danny was "the most important" one in Steve's life since his return to Hawaii.
I think we've seen this view of Alex's communicated through all the heart-eyes and the soft smiles and the goofy grins and how much Steve just seems to *enjoy* being around Danny, and while Scott's take on Danny's relationship with Steve is a little harder to suss out, given that Scott has said very little on the subject, we've got the whole "I <3 you" thing from 1.20 to fall back on.
I'm not sure what to make of that new S2 promo, other than that they're trying to capitalize on O'Quinn's LOST cachet and -- I hope -- pulling a bit of a bait and switch, making TOQ's Joe White *look* more integral to the whole thing than he really is. The promo itself is composed of scenes from at least three different episodes -- 2.01, 2.02, and 2.03 from the look of things -- and the dialogue has been diced n' spliced. I figure they threw in the scene with Chin Ho 'cos DDK played in LOST with TOQ.
What I'm most concerned about is the fact that in BTS location pics at least, we're now at a point where Steve/Other scenes -- Steve/Lori, Steve/White, etc -- outnumber Steve/Danny scenes by about 5 to 1, and even when we *do* get a scene with Steve/Danny, there's someone else in there with them -- Tom Sizemore in the most recent batch, and before that, Lauren German in the ones from Waimanalo Beach.
While we're seeing precious little of Scott and Alex at the same location and in the same scene, we're seeing *nothing* of them together as friends, hanging out between takes. We've gone from taking it for granted that when we saw one of them, the other was nearby, if not within touching distance, to them almost pointedly *not* being BTS'd together as in days of old. *That* I find really strange.
I'll tell you one thing -- if, as many of us fear, they *are* ditching the bromance that built the show in favor of a Castle/Beckett knockoff with Steve/Lori as the show's core relationship, they're going to find the show's ratings going into freefall, as that bromance is the single most quoted factor in the popularity of H50. On their heads be it.

It just saddens me so much when you finally find a new show that has the type of relationship components you're looking for... and then TPTB get cold feet and start messing with a good thing. It used to be that shows lost their mojo and started changing things after 4 or 5 seasons, but things move faster these days, don't they? I could watch shows with canonical gay characters on other networks, but I still want to find those special relationships that I can build slash subtext on and write fanfic about. Sigh, I had so hoped this would continue to be the case with H-50.
I could really write about Steve's being disappointed about Danny getting back with Rachel... he could have been trying to find the right time to approach Danny and feel he lost his chance, or they could have been doing it and he would be so hurt that Danny didn't break it to him that he would rather be with a woman and the mother of his child than Steve. That would make the "were you ever going to tell me" bit even angstier (and make Danny worse too... not only would he have been cheating with Rachel on Stan but on Steve!) Or Danny could have found himself wanting Steve and it's his moment of homosexual panic that has driven him back to Rachel's arms (and wouldn't it be interesting should she figure that out...)
Yes, Alex saying that Danny is the most important person in Steve's life is a good thing to base the relationship view on and I agree with it. Alex has certainly been playing it that way. Poor Steve, insecure, alone and caring so much for Danny -- even if only as a best friend and partner -- and being unsure Danny cares about him as much. Guys can be just friends and have a wife come in and mess up the dynamic. (Yoko Ono, anyone?)
Thanks for responding... oh, I hear you're going to visit Hawaii in October. Hope it's all you hope to find there, in regards to the show and relationship.

Agreed all over, but what is BST? I checked with an acronym finder, and nothing looked applicable.

Thank you. You must have a better look-up source than I found.
My problem is, I key in to the greater weight of a syllable. If someone said to me, "Quick! What's the acronym for Behind the Scenes?" I'd think, "BHS?" I just couldn't make BTS parse.

I find I've been having to look up a lot of new ancronyms and lingo lately... must be getting old.
