I could get out if I wanted to. I just don't feel like trudging through the frozen tundra just to get to the store or Post Office, although I did forget to put a few Valentines in the mail the other day. Oh well, I can mail them tomorrow.
We got about a foot of snow here. I went out and shoveled my porch and sidewalk a little while ago. It was heavy snow, with wettish half melted stuff underneath near the sidewalk which means when it gets colder, that will freeze up again. I put down some ice melt, though I'm finally running low on it. I got the 50 pound bag I'm finishing up two winters ago. We're out at WalMart and probably everywhere else so I'll have to switch to kitty litter if/when we get more snow. Ugh.
One good thing about not having a car is the I don't have to clean it off or dig it out of a parking space before I can leave. I'll have to walk to the bus stop tomorrow so I hope most home owners will have cleared their parts of the sidewalk by then.
Our Farpoint convention is this weekend. I am hoping it doesn't ruin the con and that people will still show up. Back in 2003, we had a huge blizzard that started during the con and when the governor closed the roads, we had 6 actors we couldn't take to the airport which cause the con a lot of financial difficulties. That was my husband's last winter so that con sticks in my mind. We could only get one car dug out to come home on Monday and had been stuck at the con hotel since then, even Ian who had been going back and forth to feed the dog. We could only get within three blocks of the house when we got home and had to walk in, which was hard for my husband as he was so weak at the time. We had to borrow a shovel to help him get to the house and to clear the porch off enough to get the front door open. This storm wasn't nearly that bad, but they are calling for more by Saturday and tonight it might snow more or at least have freezing rain come down.
I am tired of winter!!
