i had an amazing weekend with shayla. we're so alike in so many ways...and we always have a blast. i picked her up at the bus station on friday night, and we met up with some of my friends at claddaughs....however, we both hate that bar. so we left to meet up with liza, her boyfriend, and his friends at dougherty's. much more our scene. when the bar closed, we went to captain james to eat. always interesting eating there at 4 am...it's when all the classy people come out. we then went back to our hotel to crash. went to bed so late...but had to wake up early to take my friends karen and shannon to the airport. karen gave me her apartment for the week, so we stayed there. spent the whole day on the mall in dc. it was perfect weather. we took photos everywhere. (i think i got some amazing shots at this merry go round.) simple things like laying on the grass on the mall talking was so great. (by the way, that grass is not natural...it is so smushy and comfortable) it started getting late...so we grabbed the metro home, and layed on the couches for naptime. completely exhausted...we decided to stay in, order pizza, and watch movies. it was still fun. sunday we ate, went to some flea market with shontell, who i haven't seen in a long time, then went to visit jim, dropped her off at the bus, and came home. fun times, very relaxing. very nice to be around someone who knows everything, accepts everything, and understands everything.
yesterday i had a little makeover. it wasn't planned. i decided last minute that i wanted red highlights again, so a girl at my aunt's salon put crazy, funky red streaks in my hair. then brad's girlfriend lauren (who's in school for hair) needed a model for her class. she made my hair really choppy with crazy layers and it's a bit shorter. everyone in her class loved it...and i think i do too. it's just hard to get used to. i think the problem is that it's this hip, funky red-streaked crazy hairstyle...and i feel like it doesn't fit my personality that much. i think it would look awesome on someone else, i'm just still trying to adjust to it on me. after that, i tried to go see the postal service with chris laun...but the damn thing sold out as i was driving through dc, about 10 minutes from the black cat. grrr.
now it's time to get ready to drive up to nyc tonight or tomorrow morning. (shayla won't be there because she has to go to a funeral, but seeing nicole is what i'm most looking forward to. i haven't seen her in a while.) i love spring break. i'll be driving back on saturday so i can pick peeps up at the airport and so i can be back for easter and yo la tengo on sunday night. slight chance i may be able to still go to the flaming lips on monday night, too. (keeping fingers crossed) also, bought my ticket for the field day fest today. this is such an incredible lineup...it's worth all the money. and camping out with my buddies? i'm psyched as hell.
