A simple alcohol test

Mar 06, 2012 21:09

While working away at my desk in the staff room today, I suddenly heard the school nurse said "Janet should do it too." At the sound of my name I poked up my head, ran over to find out what's going on.

Turns out she was about to do an alcohol test, which will measure if you're a strong or weak drinker. All she did was take a small piece of alcohol wipe, taped it to her forearm and wait 10-15 minutes. I think the health textbook actually said 7.5 minutes, but we went back to work after we taped the wipes to our forearm and lost tracked of time. So we ended up removing the wipe after 15 minutes. After you remove the wipe and if there's a red patch, it means you're weak against alcohol.

Result: the school nurse had a visible red patch on her forearm, while my forearm was white as ever. The school nurse exclaimed that it'll be a perfect thing to show the third grade students, who will be studying "alcohol" (or something along the line) next period. When the PE teacher came back into the staff room and saw my forearm, he had the same thought as the school nurse. Before the next period's bell rang, me and the school nurse dashed up to the third grade classroom to explain the experiment that we did and showed them the result. Apparently they were going to do the same test too.

And now that I'm sitting here typing this, I realize I've forgotten to ask the PE teacher which of the kids ended up with red patch hahah

Speaking of school, someone told me that I'll be getting the same schools next year. But I'm not going to believe it, I refuse to believe it until I either a) Hear the official word from my company or b) See next year's schedule for myself.
