A little background information about the school year in Japan: In North America and many parts of the world, a school year starts in September and ends in June/July. But in Japan, the school year starts in April and ends in March. So basically from last week till April, just like the students, I have spring break (the break between the school year). I thought it was going to be a boring break spend inside, but I've actually stayed very busy.
Last Friday, I went to a Toy and Music Box Museum. They had an amazing collection of music box, too bad they didn't allow pictures. They have schedule music box concerts, which is basically explanation of the music box on display. I definitely want to go back, if only just to hear and see all these music boxes again! And it also helps that the guy in charge of the concert was pretty good looking too hahah. The toy collection was amazing as well, but what got me really excited was their toy room.
It's really simple wooden toys, but I really could had stay here all day just playing with them ♥
It was a last minute plan, but I ended up having Nabe on Monday night. Honestly, even now I'm not 100% what is define as Nabe. The way we cooked things that night, it reminded me of doing hot pot back home. Maybe that really is Nabe, Japanese style hot pot.
This was taken after attempts to make the nabe pot/ingredients pretty.
Today was a long day. After driving for 5 hours and 4 prefectures, managed to arrive at the site of Amanohashidate which is in Kyoto-Fu. Amanohashidate, is a land bridge.
From above the mountain, this is what it looks like.
BUT, when look through your legs upside down, like what Doraemon is doing here.
It becomes a famous landscape known as The Gateway to Heaven.
Tomorrow, I'm going to take it easy and just hang around my place. Maybe I'll go out to the nearby cafe for awhile. With the big 25 birthday, new teachers, and Ohanami weekend, this Spring Break will only get busier from here on!
