Woke up with the news that a friend has been accepted into a vet school in Australia. Extremely excited and happy for her! She has worked hard for this, I know she'll make an excellent vet ^_^
In other news, just read a blog about the
recent closed down of a Hello! Project store. The post also ends with a comment of not understanding why AKB48 is so big in Japan. To be honest, I don't understand it either.
It's clear that they're current at the top of the music chart, their golden age if you will. I listen to their singles, but I still don't get why they are drawing in so many people. When compare to MoMusume's golden age, the current AKB48 songs has nothing that stands out. The only plus point I see is the decent PV quality. Mind you, this is something UFA needs to work on if they want to keep making money.
With all that said, I got some pictures to show just how popular AKB48 and Hello! Project is in Japan. These pictures were taken back in June at a Tower Records store.
First, AKB48:
This was only what they had in the "normal session" under the "Pop" category. They also had a "listening" station just for them.
This is nothing you say? Wait till you see what the mothership of Hello! Project has...
1/8 of what AKB48 has.
And what bout the group that won the 49th Japan Record Awards: Newcomer Artist Award 2007?
"
1/16 of AKB48.
Seriously UFA, you really need to step it up.
...and I can't believe I just made a tag for AKB48...
