A short and long overdue update. I found a job!!! It's at a university here and it's been okay so far. The people I work with are all quite a bit older than me and I guess I was hired in for a position which a couple of them had applied for so I definitely detect a bit of resentment from a few of them. But I am trying really hard not to step on

As a side-note, not sure if you care, but I'm pretty sure they're hiring at your old job for your old shift.

Hey Andreeeeewwwwwww!

Yeah, I heard they were hiring at the old job. I had to call to get a reference for the new job so I got all the scoop. Apparently they went a bit too far in the layoffs and now need more people. However, they do this weird cycle of laying off/over hiring/laying off again every year and a half or so.

I hope I win over the grumps but if not, I guess it's okay. It's not a job or place I plan on staying for too long. : )

That sounds like a bad cycle to get caught up in. Almost as bad as being a teacher in an urban-capital-area school district that we all know and love.

You'll win over the grumps in the short time you're there, I'm sure of it. You've got a winning smile, charming personality and you're really funny. In fact, if they haven't already noticed this, I would tell them: "Listen, I've got a winning smile, charming personality and I'm really funny... so like me already!".

I'm okay April. How hot is it there today? We're supposed to see 95 here, but the humidity isn't too bad, so it doesn't feel awful yet (as I sit here with an ice pack on my lap and three fans blowing on me).

I'm sure you know, but the Tigers are doing well again, beat the BoSox two games in a row (13 inning struggle last night), and are playing them again today.

Andrewwwwwwwww so sorry about earlier on messenger. I lost my internet connection without any warning. It just now came back on. Otherwise I'd at least have said bye before logging off. Hope you didn't just think I was rude!

No, I waited for a few minutes, and then figured you musta lost internet or you were typing from work and the boss showed up :)

I was glad we got to talk finally though.

And thanks for the well-wishes on my job search. Every day I show up at work is a strong motivator to find another job, so I think I'll find something eventually :)
