So I thought I'd post it on here so you guys know what's going on with us. thanks for reading. :)
Hey Friends and Loved Ones! 9/7/05
How’s everyone doing? The school year has started with a vengeance and we’ve been caught up in the craziness. It’s been a while since our last personal newsletter, so April and I wanted to update you on all of our news. We also wanted to continue to say thank you for all of your support and love. I don’t know if you know how much you mean to us. Your care for us makes our ministry possible. If we are the hands touching the lives of kids here in Statesville, you are the arms that stretch to get us here!
First off, we’ve moved! Not out of Statesville, and not even out of our apartment complex, but simply from one apartment to another. Our mailing address has changed however. It’s now 1011 Fourth Creek Landing Drive. We moved this past weekend, and with the help of three strong Young Life guys, it was a complete and total success. We’re really excited about our new apartment. It’s a little cozier than the old one and we like the floor plan a lot more. It’s also cheaper than our last one, which is always a good thing! We’ve been really working hard to be good stewards of the finances that God gives us, so we are trusting that He will honor our decision. More on that later…
In other news, April is looking for new job opportunities. As you already know, she currently works part-time as a nanny for a family in Mooresville. Well, the little girl who she cares for will probably be heading to a pre-school academy soon, so April’s hours will be cut to a certain extent. So she’s researching job prospects in and around Statesville. We would really appreciate your prayers for doors to open for her next job.
As I said before, the school year is here and we kicked off the Young Life year last night with the 2nd Annual Ice Cream Olympics for the high school kids. It was a total blast! It’s basically an excuse for all of the kids to throw ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce at each other and at us leaders. It was messy, hilarious, and downright fun. We’ve included some pictures from the event that you can live through vicariously. All of the fun with none of the mess! Wyld Life, our ministry to middle school students, will begin next week with their own version of the Ice Cream Olympics.
Now for the tough part of the newsletter: Finances. Money is never an easy thing to talk about, especially when you work for a non-profit that relies on donations and gifts. So I’ll just lay it out for you: I need to raise $4760 in one-time gifts by the end of September. The end of the month is the end of our fiscal year and we are striving to finish the year in the black.
Additionally, I am working on raising the $13,000 needed for my second year of the internship. At this point, my commitments total $8640, leaving $4360 to raise until June of 2006. Anything you could give will help and will allow us to continue to minister in the lives of the students in this community. April and I are trusting that this is where God wants us and that He will provide the means for us to stay here for another year. All donations are tax deductible and if you have any questions at all, please feel free to call me on my cell phone: (email if you would like this..or our mailing address).
There you have it! The news of our busy, crazy lives together. We love you so much and look forward to seeing all of you soon. Please keep us posted on your news and prayer requests as well. We want to always lift you up to our Father, for from Him do all good and perfect gifts come. Praise Him!
Love,
Jeremy and April
