Well it is still not summer yet... I have not gone to a swim practice! But that will change tomorrow, so all is well.
Let's see this is going to be a boring, random, and pointless entry. Let's review my day:
I was woken up to the sound of my mom, dad, and littlest sister arguing. They were most likely disagreeing over something to do with getting ready for Robyn's 8th birthday party, which happened to be today, which I happen to be lifeguarding.
So I have never lifeguarded before. Once I had got my whistle I sat down next to Casey and Sarah, who were supposed to be helping me but instead applied sunscreen and judged diving contests. Casey was being a tyrant among the little kids, organizing games and such when the children clearly did not want to play them, and yelling at them for minor pool rule infractions such as throwing balls (wait... isn't that what they are for?) and criticizing me for not allowing Robyn to jump sideways off the diving board (which is actually very dangerous I'll have you know- the cement happens to be on the side of the diving board). I got the hang of it pretty fast, as Robyn and other girls on swim team seemed to be the ones who broke the rules the most.
I blew the whistle the most, however, when Casey and Sarah decided to be really funny and jumped in the pool, purposely breaking as many rules as they could in order to cause me to blow the whistle at them. I was thrilled. Eventually I decided to ignore them, concluding that everyone at the party would be better off if one of them was to drown or get hurt. My love for them is tearing me apart.
Both 8th grade graduates remained in the pool for a while after, playing with all the little guests. Casey was being really obnoxious and trying to control some game they were playing so I took this as a golden opportunity. I blew the whistle twice, surprisingly everyone got quiet. I yelled "Casey! Stop trying to be the center of attention!" And that may have been the highlight of my day.
Except when Casey, Megan and I were leaving the movie theater and these two old ladies were making frantic hand-gestures at us. Stopped at the stop sign, waiting for them to cross the street, we all thought they wanted to jump us or something. Perhaps they were offended by our scandalous (not) clothing. It turns out that as usual I had forgotten to turn my lights on and they were merely reminding me, and not trying to attack us as we had surmised by their clearly vicious body language.
How is it 10:15? I had fun tonight but I feel like I should still be out. After all, it is summer!!!!!
