Prenatal Appointment Two

My prenatal appointment on Thursday went well. It was short, but I felt like everything that needed to be addressed was addressed. The OB I saw (the practice I go to switches around the OB's every visit) said that sleeping 10 hours a day was normal and nothing to worry about. When I asked about the vitamins and she instructed me to just take one Flintstones vitamin. She also told me that taking too would give me too much vitamin A. By the way, too much vitamin A causes birth defects. I bought some Flintstones vitamins and when I got home looked at the label. One Flintstones vitamin is the dose for adults (and children over 4). Actually the only noticable difference in vitamin and mineral content between the Flintstones and the adult chewable vitamins I took before I got pregnant is the amount of calcium. The Flintstones have about a third the amount of calcium the adult chewables did. I might just take Flintstones after the baby comes too. They have more flavors than the adult chewable and when my child is old enough to take vitamins, I will already have them on hand and I'm sure it will be easier to get a child to take a vitamin if he/she sees an adult doing it.

The best part of the prenatal visit was hearing the baby's heartbeat. I almost cried. I think the only reason I didn't was because I was so exhausted. I hardly slept before the prenatal appointment. I'm also on a daytime schedule again, but we'll see how that lasts. Hopefully a week and a half. Phil's work has him working 4 days with one day off then repeat then back to his regular schedule. We found out Thursday when he got home. I was already cranky so that was great news to receive. It will be alright though.

Anyways, on Thursday I also went to a Pampered Chef/Dove Chocolate Discoveries Party. It was fun. I wasn't ready to buy anything, but I enjoyed chocolate goodies and took a Pampered Chef catalog home. I also discussed the possibly with Lindsay (the Pampered Chef consultant/fellow military spouse) of me hosting a Pampered Chef party in a few months. I have a short window of time before the baby comes that would be good for hosting a Pampered Chef Party. I want to make sure I'm completely past morning sickness/food aversions, but before I'm close to giving birth. Also the ideal time for me to host would be around the time of November/early December. Works with my pregnancy and the upcoming holiday season. I'm also interested in becoming a Pampered Chef consultant. I'm not ready to say for sure if I want to do it, but I figure it could be a nice way to get a little extra income, nice products, and get me out of the house some more. Not what I would consider a career, but I feel like right now it would be a nice option and something I might be able to still do in addtion to another job. It's probably the best consultant opportunity for me. Some of the other parties I have attended aren't quite up my alley. While the Dove Chocolate Discoiveries is nice, I don't really want free chocolate or the tmeptation to eat chocolate all the time. I've been to a Scentsy party, but I couldn't be a counsultant for it due to the fact the scent irritate my allergies. The Pampered Chef has cookware which I think is great and I would get the opportunity to cook for others while working. I would also learn more recipes. We'll have to see though. Oh, by the way, I did win chocolate from Dove Chocolate Discoveries. More like I won $36 in credit and got to pick out what I wanted. I can't wait until my chocolate gingerbread mix gets here. Om nom nom.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I'm starting to gain weight again. I'm not completely sure how much I've gained since my previous prenatal visit, but it's some where around a half a pound to one pound. Not quite back to my prepregnancy weight, but honestly I'm still in the range I should have been prepregnancy. I should gain about a pound a week from now on.
