You know, I think if I keep writing this entry in a word processor, I'm never going to finish, so I'm just going to write in the lj text space.

The first thing I'd like to say is that I'm exuberantly, unabashedly in love with Crystal and she, Julia and I are in a polyamorouslesbian!relationship and it's made of awesome.

Dude, good luck MCAT studying...so that you can take it and finally post the last batch of Azkatraz pics.

But, in all seriousness, awwwwwwwww, thanks. This really does feel pretty rare and special, like it took strange people (us) coming together in a strange place (Azkatraz) all as total noobs who were ready for transformation. Which, I guess, has been a running theme.

Dude, I'd love to talk more about costuming and daily life. After the first day of con I started planning a dissertation around costuming and gender. (You know I like something when I want to write a dissertation about it.) I mean, actually costuming has been a bit muted (though we've ended up in costume a few times after con, but I think you've seen my facebook.) It's carried on more as a sort of rp, and we code-switch between our own personas and the characters but, as you'd imagine, the line's a bit blurry.

There's a dual negotiation going on between ourselves as a relationship and as the characters' relationships, and they're sorta mutually-constitutive.

I think there's also an aspect of permissiveness that comes from inhabiting character rather than one's own voice and persona, and that's been interesting...but we should definitely talk. It's 3 a.m. and I'm going into dissertation mode about my relationship. How do well-adjusted ppl cope with academics like us?

And Iron Man slash? Really? Who would you slash him with? The evil Colonel Sanders guy?

Dude, we can talk academia/dissertation any time (after September 10th, that's my MCAT day) you want. I am starved for conversations like this. Well, you're the expert with gender theory. I am not all that well-versed in it, but very interested in learning more, even though I don't consider myself queer at all (well, okay, I think maybe I'm partially male-identified).

I slash Tony Stark with Bruce Wayne :D

I also sometimes slash Tony Stark with Captain America. But I mostly slash him with Bruce Wayne. I also slash Bruce Wayne with Clark Kent. Unlike some male characters, I don't share Bruce Wayne with too many people, so that's it for him, at least when it comes to slash pairings.

But I also read some holycrap!amazing gen fanfics lately with movieverse Tony Stark. Amaaazing. But this is really a break from my usual reading of late: Wolverine fanfic. I slash Logan with Remy (Gambit) and Scott (Cyclops). And Kurt (Nightcrawler). And Victor Creed (Sabertooth) if he's not his half-brother. Umm...not all at the same time.

Hm, makes sense. I think they'd have a lot to talk about. How they use their millions to create crime-fighting gadgetry--and impressive bondage dungeons.

I take it Logan is X-Men's fandom slut? And I see nothing wrong with slashing them all at the same time.

OMG, you're starved for random gender/sexuality ramblings? Excellent, because most of my friends can't watch movies with me. I just saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory again today, and I soliloqued about how Willy Wonka is gay and how the movie thinks it's awesome and that's awesome.

LOL, no, I think the X-Men fandom slut might be Remy. He is slashed with everyone and everything. I tend to slash my favorite characters with everyone, as I do in HP with Harry and Snape.

Too bad not too many people cross Tony Stark with Bruce Wayne. It's one of those odder pairings where not a lot of fics are written about the two of them. Really, a shame. They have a lot in common. Even when they're not Iron Man and Batman.
