I love France!

France is so amazing. I love the people here, I love their way of life. Lucky for me, I'm spending almost half a year of my life here. So far, I've seen quite a few Renaisance chateaux, and there's a medieval chateau-fortress right in the middle of the city where I live. Amazing.

I've also been to Mont St. Michel, which is just unbelievably beautiful. I was sick when we went, but still, I huffed it to the top and looked out over the amazing waters and just sighed. There are parts of that abbey that are more than 1200 years old. 1200 years. 1200 years! To an American, that's just unfathomable. That's SUCH a long time ago, more than twice as long ago as when Christopher Columbus "discovered" America.

School is going well; I'm really enjoying my classes--especially translation--and I really like the people I've gotten to know.

I've made some good friends already, and I'm really happy with the family I'm staying with. They're freakin amazing, just the nicest family I could have possibly wished for. I live far away from town, so I don't have a lot of opportunities to go out, but it's good because this way I spend more time with French people than American people.

Okay, so that's a little update. I'm tired--we visited the royal abbey of Fontevraud, a troglodyte restaurant, and le Chateau Brézé--so I'm going to bed. Bonne nuit à tout le monde!
