Ser and estar con Dios

I was wondering about the application of ser and estar in regards to God.
I heard a song that said "Dios esta aqui", but wouldn't this be the one and only exception where you might possibly use estan, since He is both singular and plural? Kind of an exception to the grammatical rules? Or am I getting this confused?
I know the rules of grammar in Spanish are a little more interesting than English, because in English, the closest you can get to something like this is "Y'all"
