So I have realized something as a devoted Ellen watcher; she has changed my taste in music. I love her for it though, but as a former hardcore and punk rock fan, I find it truly surprising that the following four songs are my four favorite songs that I constantly have stuck in my head.
1) Taylor Swift: Shake It Off
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdzGvygMIk8I know; I am as surprised as anyone that I now proudly know every word to this song. Honestly, when my first obsession with this song came with watching the Halloween episode of 'Live With Kelly & Michael' in which Kelly Ripa did a phenomenal recreation video, with outtake clips from all of their Halloween skits within the video.. which was epic. Afterwards, I realized I was enjoying the song just as much as I was enjoying the spoof itself. So now I find myself in the car, shaking my hands like an idiot, blowing out the speakers of my crappy little boombox in our apartment, dancing around with a dish rag to this song. Thanks Taylor Swift, lol.. you've turned me into a future YouTube embarassment video.
2) Meghan Trainor: All About That Bass
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSATlyRW1hYOnce again, thanks to Ellen, this song is a staple in my daily music search. This song was written due to the inspiration had by Meghan Trainor whilst watching an Ellen episode about body acceptance, and thus came the song that is the equivalent of cocaine lol. I do NOT mind a song that makes me feel less terrible about my love of Cheddar Fries, cheese and anything with butter or bacon XD
3) Jessie J: Burnin' Up
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9HJFbbe58MYes, once again Ellen has ravaged into my brain with an artist whom I had never heard of before I had seen this performance of 'Bang, Bang' & 'Burnin Up' on her show.. and then I felt instantly stupid for not knowing who this amazing vocalist was. Her live performances are better than any studio recording you could want from an artist, and I was so impressed. Also, nobody can rock MC Hammer pants quite like her lol.
4) Kenny Chesney: American Kids
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSU2aS5fNHoThis is the most surprising, to me at least, on my top 4 for this moment.. I have been a long time hater of country music, until I heard this song and it changed my perception of legit country music, not POP country music... I have always liked that style, but this twangy, real down-home country music.. never been my thing. I heard this song and was singing along by the second chorus. Now it's stuck in my head all the time.. I'm humming it while doing the dishes, in the shower, anywhere!! Great tune.
Now I know my taste in music changes with the seasons, but for now, those are my Top 4. Hope you enjoyed my quips about those tunes.. enjoy em ;)
