So I'm joining the Sambanistas for a short performance before some random baseball game. Its in two weeks and I'm starting to get a bit worried because a) stage fright, b) my memory is shocking, c) I generally have no idea what I'm doing in the biweekly drumming shindigs. Fortunately I'm not on the drums for it, so my stuff ups won't be too noticeable! Today was pretty awesome though. Had a topsy turvy week, and this definitely made things veer in the upwards direction. Its still pretty crazy because the person leading the night usually goes 'hey guys! lets play [insert brazilian name of drumming rhythm here]' and then they're off and I usually flail around for a few bars before becoming somewhat coordinated. Afterwards we randomly joined the african drummers playing outside (apparantly they were having this full moon event) where people were dancing crazily in their flowly pants with dreadlocked hair being whipped around every which way. The main guy for the african group had awesome pants made out of giant patches of crazy material. WANT>
- B call: 2 bars of 4 pairs really fast, the 4 counts of the wierd hand-x-o-x, then the hand-o-x-o hand-x-o-x hand o-x-x hand-o-x-o
- cathedral and half cathedral (hand - 1 hand -2)
raga(?) rhythm which i can't remember now
- some weird call starting with 'timba' -hold, hold, x-x-x-x-buttend-x-buttend(hold)
2 call (on the tam) normal: x - x - - x - x - - x-
count to 3 then x-- x-- x-x-x- | x-- x-- x-- -- | x-- x-- x-x-x- | x (mids/lows) x (mids/lows) | x-- x-- x-x-x-x--x--x-x-x (mids/lows do crazy thing) | regular rhythm
