We biked down to first beach yesterday and today. Yesterday was glorious with sun, no wind and nice waves rolling in. I watched some beach volleyball and figured out the hand signals (line and angle), which were pretty simple actually although I have no idea how to keep them in my head during play. We played in the fresh water stream that pours into ocean by the Atlantic Beach Club. ABC was jam packed with vekking tweens and had the most obnoxious mc/live band I've heard. I don't think I would have noticed if I weren't a family guy We did drip sand castles and had loads of fun with that. The sand was the perfect consistancy. Then we (G and I) jumped in and the water and played while
kimcob watched. It's still too cold for her. I did some body surfing while G played in the shallows. We went for a nice walk and I jumped in the water again and body surfed more, it was fantastic. The bike ride home was tiring and my legs were very noodly for a while.
Today was a little overcast and windy, but we biked down anyway and immediately started freezing our butts off, but the sun came out and warmed us. We went for a walk way up the beach where it gets rocky and looked for crabs (they were plentiful). We also found where some bluebloods or rednecks were hitting golfballs into their ocean, bastards. I'm really irritated by the litter around here, oh well. I played some beach VB. Then Gabe and I jumped in the water and bodysurfed together. The waves were breaking in the shallows and he was more intrepid today so we played really closely together. It was FUN! Then we biked home. It takes four times as long to get back because it is all uphill and bodysurfing and VB were taking their toll, but we made it.
We live in a *really* wonderful place. It's hard to think about making the move back north even though I started that process this weekend. YIKES!
