Police report;
Name: Rin Sakigami Moreau
Age: 30
Appearance:
White hair with blue tint. Half-Japanese and half-French-Canadian. Often wears a calf-length black fur-lined coat, especially in colder regions. Appears 6-10 years younger than actual age. Has severe injury scarring, no tattoos. 5'9, light build.
Crimes:
Corporate espionage, grand theft auto, larceny, spying, breaking and entering, resisting arrest, false pretenses, theft, petty theft, violation of international immigration law, etc.
One count of violence, and tied to the resisting arrest detailed later.
Notes:
An extremely talented master criminal and escape artist. He is suspected of several break ins to high security areas, and has managed to escape from the middle of a police station while under sedation and guard. He has no known alliances to any crime syndicates, but apparently made enemies of a portion of the Russian mob.
Psychological assessment.
Rin Moreau suffers from schizophrenia, paranoia sub-type, apparently inherited from his late mother, and manifesting in his teens as a complete psychotic break requiring multiple year long hospitalization. As inferred from his behavior and reticence over certain questions, his delusions manifest in a belief in a 'them' that exist internationally and do unexplained 'bad things'; A fear of them, and of them harming others, prevents him from explaining his reasoning for crimes. He forcefully denies the abuse his parents were accused of and displaces blame onto 'them'.
Evidenced in the '95 interview is that he hallucinates voices, and begins responding to them as well as spoken words when in pain and/or drugged. He appears capable of discerning and identifying the differences between true spoken word and the hallucinations the majority of the time.
Only one violent psychosis episode is noted, when Rin attacked Officer Laurent* when he attempted to arrest both Rin and a female present in his apartment. The majority of the time, he is a danger only to himself with an aversion to any violence.
When areas of conversation effected by the paranoia are avoided, Rin is a skilled linguist capable of conversing fluently in multiple languages and shows talent in cold reading and matching his own behavior and topics of conversation to whoever he is conversing with. He successfully and effortlessly befriended a succession of criminals when kept in a public cell. This may be a form of adult disinhibited reactive attachment disorder, as after a few hours, Rin will behave as if near strangers are close friends, predicting their behavior and becoming instantly concerned at threats towards them. He is intelligent enough to manipulate answers to psychological profiling but will co-operate if asked politely.
He shows very few signs of post-traumatic stress disorder, but displays intense psychological distress whenever medication or enforced hospitalization is discussed. As his behavior stems entirely from uncontrolled schizophrenia, he is a serious candidate for an insanity plea and medication.
*Laurent was later successfully tried for attempting to frame another criminal for the crime of rape. Rin obliquely implied this behaviour was present at the time of his own arrest in his interview, and he fought to protect the Jane Doe who escaped. It should be noted he immediately surrendered at the arrival of other officers. However, whether this is true, or a manifestation of his paranoid schizophrenia, is unknown.
