loans and funding for MLS programs

Jun 26, 2012 12:58

So, I'm applying for MLS programs (and one dual MLS/MA in English lit program). And I don't think I'll find a ton of funding. My not so great gpa, the traditional lack of super great funding for MLS programs, the fact that I'm applying to mostly public universities, etc. So, I'm thinking I'll be taking out loans. But: I keep hearing you shouldn't pursue a graduate degree in the humanities without funding, full funding. How realistic is it to expect to GET funding for an MLS degree? And what's an acceptable upper limit for the debt you're willing to carry around (on top of undergraduate loan debt) for a graduate degree? I'm wondering what those of you in the same boat are thinking/feeling about this?

Any answers are appreciated!
