late recommendation

Jan 19, 2012 14:39

One of my recommenders just completed her recommendation for my MPA application to a particular school 4 days late. She offered to call this school--do you think it's necessary/helpful? I know it couldn't hurt, but I don't want to waste her time if most grad schools aren't particularly focused on recommendation deadlines.

In my experience, it's not usually a big deal. The majority of departments build a little flex time into things because LOR-writers are notorious about this kind of thing.

However, it might not *hurt* to call the department and let them know that one recommendation was submitted late. In other words, probably not necessary, but not a bad thing, either, especially if the prof is willing to mea culpa at them.

I agree with this. If I were you, I'd ask the prof to contact the department just to ensure that your application is accepted.
