I'm looking into getting my MPH with a focus on maternal and child health/related programs. I know there are a bunch of colleges with Schools of Public Health, and I've been able to find a ton of information on those. But I've also been looking into colleges that offer the MPH but do not have a School of Public Health. It's a lot harder to find information on these, though, which made me wonder... Are colleges without a School of Public Health generally a lot less competitive?

For instance, USC offers a MPH with a child and family health track through their School of Medicine. UC Berkeley, by contrast, offers a MPH in maternal and child health through their School of Public Health. I've heard a ton about Berkeley's program (US News rankings, grad school searches, etc), but know nothing about USC's (besides what the school itself has told me -- I'm currently an undergrad there).

In general, what differences between School of Public Health vs. non-School of Public Health programs would I be looking for? Or should I not even be looking at non-School of Public Health programs?
