Waiting a year (or not?) and LORs

I'm kind of a late bloomer. Last year, when I was already a senior, I declared a second major in radio/television/film critical studies. I'm taking an extra year of undergrad to finish that up, and expect to graduate in the spring. I want to go to grad school for film studies, or more specifically film history (though I haven't found any programs that focus just on the history).

Because I entered the major so late, I don't really know many of the professors yet, and the class that I think will be most relevant (Research & Criticism) isn't held until next semester. Would I be better off waiting until next year to apply? By then I'll have had at least one professor twice, and will be better acquainted with the rest of them than I am now. I'll also hopefully have something to show for that research class, because so far I haven't written a single paper for this major and I'm worried about sending in writing samples that have nothing to do with the programs I'm applying for.

Of course, I don't want to spend a year sitting on my hands. If I do apply now, I'd have to go to professors in my first major (Writing Arts) or minor (French) for LORs. The problem is that I've already done a study-abroad program and an internship abroad, both of which required LORs. Is it okay to ask a professor for a recommendation more than once? I know my RTF adviser would write one even though she's done so already, but I'm unsure about asking other profs.
