hall council is awesome! or not.

I tried Googling this and all I received in return was a bunch of arguments on College Confidential. Feh.

Do extracurricular activities add anything at all to an application for an MA or PhD in the humanities? And by extracurriculars, I mean things such as leadership positions, volunteer work, etc. I do have research experience and internship experience.

I know there is already limited space on an application to talk about ECs, and that when you write your CV, ECs are usually dead last. Is this a sign that ad coms won't care that I was on hall council or student government?
