Another one of those GRE questions...

I'm applying to MFA programs for creative writing. Took the GRE with a sinus infection and ended up with a 600 V, 520 Q and a 5.5 writing. The math is higher than I have been testing and the verbal is a lot lower...I know lots of MFA programs don't look at GRE scores and the ones that do only pay attention to verbal/writing (I'm pretty disappointed ( Read more... )

The only thing creative writing MFAs care about is your writing sample, well and truly. If that's what you're going for, don't bother with a retake.

I'm applying to MFAs as well, and the only GRE requirement that I've seen from any of them is a 600 verbal, which you have. (and that's only to appease the grad school; they could probably get it waived if they really liked a candidate.) So, I wouldn't worry about retaking it or anything - the writing sample is the most important thing, and you should concentrate on getting that perfect instead.

Almost all just want a 600 verbal, which you got, so I wouldn't worry about it, especially with your other qualifications. Just work on your personal statement and your portfolio.

yup... nobody cares if your writing sample is good and nobody cares if your writing sample sucks (or even just isn't a good fit).
