I LOVE NYU. I am an undergrad here and I'm applying for my PhD in the fall. I had "History of Communications" with him. I also went abroad to Paris and he taught a grad class at the American University of Paris about the history of the book, religion and communications. The class in Paris was very print-centric, he took us to see Gutenberg Bibles and talked a lot about his own work. He is returning in the fall from a year long sabbatical in which he was working at Princeton University and finishing his book about his work. (I'm considering him for a recommendation for my own applications, which is why I've been following his work, lol.)

The department is kind of small, but very supportive of their PhDs. If you want to know more specifics about the department or the other professors, feel free to email me.
