Hi there! I'm a Psych undergrad looking into graduate school. I have a few different ideas for graduate school (all within the realm of Psychology/Social Work), I've recently been looking into attending Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. I spent Spring Break in Ireland with a class and we took a tour of Trinity. Needless to say, I fell in love. I have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer:
1. On their entry requirements, it says to be admitted, one needs "at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country". What would be an equivalent degree from an American college? Graduating with a bachelor's with honors?
2. I've been reading through this community's memories and it's been said not to get a PhD from abroad because it is not that valuable if one wants to teach. However, I do not want to teach. I would like to get my doctorate in Clinical Psych or Counseling Psych and practice. Would these degrees still be valuable back in the states if I received them from Trinity?
While I plan on speaking with my academic adviser about all of this, it would be great to get some insight from others as well.
Thanks so much!
