Fellowship/Funding taxes for international students
Hey.
I was wondering if anyone had more insights on how the taxation of funding/fellowships works for international students. I am a Canadian citizen and CUNY is offering me 18K part of which covers tuition, leaving me with a stipend of approximately 12K. Will I be taxed on of it? I also heard that Canadians are taxed doubly --by the US gov't and the Canadian gov't. Anyone have more info/experience.
