slightly off topic...
Hi everyone,
I was curious if anyone knows of or has experience with the following:
I am a graduate student at a large private school. I have a nice financial aid package because I am pretty poor on paper and have no assets.
Recently my boyfriend and I have discussed getting married. I will not graduate until 2011… My boyfriend has a decent job but I don’t want him to pay for my education in any way shape or form.
Do I really have to wait until after I graduate so that I don’t get the shaft in terms of financial aid? Can we get married next year after I file my taxes alone and fill out the 2010-2011 FAFSA?
Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated! I wrote my financial aid advisor and am still awaiting a reply.
