Dream school v. Funding (again)
Lots of people have asked if they should go to a school without funding. The consensus is usually to take the funded offers or just wait it out for a year and reapply next year.
But I'm different, and aren't we all, right?
I applied to several schools in "my" discipline, and one in something different. I got one funded offer in "my" discipline and one unfunded acceptance at NewDifferentAwesome program.
Funded School is pressuring me to make a decision soon. NewDifferentAwesome Program told me I was "high on the list of alternates" for a GTA. Do I risk it? Would it be really stupid to take loans for the first year and see if I get a GTA for the second year (after they've had a year to realize how awesome and fund-worthy I am)? I'm already in a really ridiculous amount of debt from my undergrad and my masters and I'm not uncomfortable with a little more.
