reading (too much into things) comprehension

Hello, all!

I feel ridiculous asking this, but I received a letter in the mail today and I'm not quite sure how to interpret it. The application deadline for one of the programs I'm applying to was last week (I got my application and whatnot in a good few days before the deadline, like a good girl).

The letter is dated as the deadline and says something to the effect of:

"Dear pinkertina,

This school is pretty awesome. As a matter of fact, it's the most awesome school in the whole state of (not very exciting state)! As a result of us being so awesome, we got a butt load of money.

(Insert three more paragraphs of this.)

Based on the info you gave us, you're eligible for the (preposterous funding package) fellowship. Please call us at your earliest convenience so we can chat and invite you to come meet the departmental faculty and other grad students.

-Director of the Office of Grad Studies"

Their emphasis, not mine. I know I could just call tomorrow and chill the eff out but the suspense is killing me! I have heard absolutely nothing from the department, grad school, or my potential advisor regarding an admissions decision and they don't have a status check page, but I know for a fact that the department met last week (apparently they move very quickly) and are sorting out departmental funding now.

Is this a form letter that they send out to anyone that fits with a GRE of X and a GPA of Y? Did my potential advisor, the chair of the department, nominate me? Or does this mean that I made it past the grad school's round of cuts and now I just need to clear the departmental hurdle?

::explodes::

Either way, I find it hilarious that the school with the latest deadline is the first one to get back to me.
