GRE Verbal score for English grad programs?
Hi there!
I had a quick question concerning applying to English graduate programs. I was going to apply to UC Berkeley and UC Irvine, but I'm not feeling too confident with my GRE verbal score. Both of their websites suggest a minimum of 650, but I am well below that with a 550. I have a fairly good gpa (3.7), good references, and hopefully can put together a good personal statement and writing sample. But with a GRE verbal score that is so low, is it worth applying? I feel like I won't have a chance because the program is so competitive. Should I hold off and try again next year after I have had a chance to study and procure a better score?
