Should I apply to this particular program?

So, I took the GRE today.  Because I live at the ends of the earth, it was paper and pencil and I won't get the scores till about Dec 5 (you can do the test on computer in remote parts of Africa and Central Asia, but not New Zealand).  Anyway.

There is one particular professor who I would love to work with.  He works at what seems to be a very prestigious uni (which I wouldn't care about accept for that it probably makes it more competitive).  The close off date for this application is Dec 1, or before my GRE scores are released.  I've been in email contact with the program's co-ordinator, but can't get a definite yes or no about whether my application will be at a disadvantage because of the late GRE score.

So, I can't decide whether to apply to this particular school.  There aren't a lot of researchers around whose interests match with my own so closely, and I suspect (though can't be sure, obviously) that my interests are pretty unique in the aplication pool.  Applications are expensive when you add up application fees, GRE score reports, transcripts and in my case a fluctuating exchange rate.  I'm not sure if my application to this program would be competitive anyway (lowish GPA), let alone with it being incomplete at the deadline.

What I'm asking, I guess, is whether you'd apply to this program in my situation?
