Even after studying for what seemed like forever, my dyscalculia came back to bite me in the ass with a 490 quant score on my retake yesterday.
I immediately emailed all eight of my short-list programs and have already been told by four department heads (including Princeton) that I oughtn't to worry about a retake because my field is cultural anthropology - and my verbal score is 660, the 92nd percentile, while my GPA is A-. So my score split is the reverse of what a lot of social sciences candidates have: I've read that the average verbal score for them is in the 490 range. (The only program that has recommended retake was SUNY Binghamton, so they're off my list since they were teetering anyway).
Now.... I already am feeling sort of reassured, but how likely do you think it is that my quant score is going have adverse effects on my admission when I'm held up to similarly qualified candidates who aren't completely ass-backwards at simple math? :(
