Poor Graduate School Secretary

So I called all my schools today, just to double check that my applications have gotten in (I forgot to have conformation. Whoops.) and were in the system, and so far, all of them but one which already is updated fully, has no record of my materials. They assured me that they are in CRUNCH TIME and that my stuff is probably there but not processed ( Read more... )

Yeah, this isn't a good time to call unless you have a specific question that isn't about if they got something or not. If something is missing, the school will let you know. Most things do arrive ok.

I know it's stressful not being sure if everything made it there though.

You shouldn't feel bad for calling. I've contacted all of my programs - except Yale which explicitly asked me not to - and all of them have been polite to me. Even if it is crunch time, that doesn't mean she needs to be rude on the phone. Trust me, I have an administrative job at a university right now and even if its super busy, I'm expected to stay professional.

U of Pitt's History department was super nice though. For every nasty person I get on the phone, I seem to get someone else that puts a smile on my face. UPitt's secretary sounded like a cheerful grandmother. I hope she bakes cookies for the department.
