I had one of those awful application moments: I just e-mailed a university re: writing samples (they have an option for it, want it less than 25 pages-- I asked if two samples was okay as long as they are fewer than 25 pages total)-- and got an e-mail "Out of Office" automatic reply. Looks like they won't be back until after the deadline-- oh how I wish I asked earlier!
Would it be an entirely foolish idea to send two samples after not getting a response (and them knowing that I asked too late)? Both e-mails would be sitting in the mailbox, eventually-- the one with my question, and the one with my writing sample(s).
I do have one lengthy paper that I'm considering chopping down and submitting-- but I have a fraught relationship with it currently, and am not sure if I can transform it into what I'd want to send in (I will try though, damn it!). However, I do have a strong and cool 8 page paper, and perhaps I could send a nicer segment of this lengthy one...
FYI, its a Ph.D. program in Religious Studies.
Thanks for reading! :)
