GRE fun-time blind explanation...weeee

Nov 13, 2007 00:51

So, I did my GREs today.

Verbal:  540
Quantitative: 610

Notably, the schools I'm looking at that request GREs, at least one's implicitly asking for 650 on Verbal.  I suspect others are similar.

That all said and done, I should note that I went in this blind:  No expectations, no preparation.  And slept relatively well and ate a banana before then.  It's prolly not bad for what it's worth.  That said, I can prolly do better.

My question is, is it probable that my score could improve to the level I'm implying it should with preparation and a re-take?  I mean, deus meu, some of the words in that test I don't think any decent or famous author/writer/etc. has ever used.  Like malignoquence.  (Which, according to spellcheck on Firefox, is not even spelled right)

For the record, I'm applying for MFA and MA programs in Creative Writing and English with Writing concentration.
