How much more hairy can graduate application process can get?  While reading the instructions carefully for where to send my transcripts, I found out that the school basically requires you to submit your application before ANY of the supplementary materials can go out (transcripts, LORs ( Read more... )

I used to do this fun (for me) activity with my students (high school science) that reinforced direction reading. It was a simple sheet with a list of tasks to be completed to get 'credit' for the assignment. There was only a line or two of directions, but of course most students skipped them. Students would come up to me with these elaborately marked sheets, it was interesting to see how different they looked, especially since the directions specifically stated "Write your name in the left hand corner of the paper and hand it in. Skip steps 1-20."

haha I remember this... it happened to me twice or three times by different teachers. Of course, after the first time, I never fell for it again.

I remember doing something like that, only it did actually have some work we had to do on it too... But one of the directions said to WRITE your name - and I read it and printed my name. My teacher said I was wrong because WRITE meant cursive. And I'm still bitter!
