Writing sample questions.
1) I am submitting my thesis as a writing sample. Should I use my thesis cover page (as required by my university) as the cover page of my writing sample? Or do I need to make one that specifically says "writing sample"? Or should I just add the words "writing sample in support of my application to the Ph.D. program in Psychology" (or some such) to the title page I already have?
2) Many of my schools don't say anything at all about a writing sample. I've e-mailed them, and most have said that one is not required but I can include it if I want (which I do). One program, however, said that it is not recommended that I send one, but I can if I think it will strengthen my application. I do think it will make my application stronger (my thesis is complete, including data analysis, and I have won awards for this research), but I'm nervous at the "not recommended" part. Do y'all think I should include my writing sample for this program, or no?
