On the whole, I wonder how this desertion rate compares proportionally, to past wars. The NPR report pointed out that at its peak, the annual desertion rate during the draft-enabled Vietnam War was 30,000.
Also, no numbers yet on PTSD cases, but the NYTimes is at least covering some of the trauma and rape for female US soldiers
Still, a very interesting, if saddening, graphic of the violence in Baghdad since 2003
