Spent the morning helping my mom out with a large pot of
mohinga. Mmm - delicious! Even managed to harvest young banana stem from the garden. Fed all the staff lunch too. I am stuffed. Hard to imagine I'll have to politely eat again in another couple of hours.
I'm hard pressed to think of another equatorial city that has the range and availability of fresh locally- and regionally-produced ingredients of Nairobi.

Otherwise, I've been busy collecting treasures, some for myself, some for others. Some notable items include: a very lovely safari bag from
these guys, factory-direct;
Bata safari boots (original desert/suede design, with updated sole) straight from
Limuru, and Kenyan
coffee* and
tea, of course. I'm particularly happy with some locally-produced salty plantain chips - yummy! Also, the
Tusker T-Shirt will certainly produce greater pleasure than the beverage.
*I was amused by some of
the alternatives, which were packaged for German export (Had Bio and Gruenpunkt markings, even); nearly as amusing as the knock-off "Linda" chocolates on another shelf.
