In which it is shown just how much Axel is missing from his understanding-people-skills.
Set a few hours after Axel's blowup at ninSora, and ninSora's departure. :C

ninAxel: (So Kai went to get his guitar, right?)
Kai: (Yeeeep.)
ninAxel: (So where did he go with it and would he still be doing that a few hours later.)
Kai: (Uhhh probably the bridge, because big window.)
ninAxel: (k)
ninAxel: (So should I start or what.)
Kai: (Uh, sure.)
Kai: (Kai will just be on the bridge, playing guitar. \o/)
ninAxel: (k)
ninAxel: *so uhhhhhh comes creeping up from the engine room, being stealthy like a ninja, and only interested in being with someone he really trusts, so yeah. heads straight for Kai, but hesitates a little, several feet away from him.*
Kai: *doesn't stop playing, though he does send Axel a brief smile. he's going to have to speak first, if he wants to say anything at all*
ninAxel: *looks a bit red around the eyes, and a little pale and lost. slinks closer, settling on the floor next to Kai's chair, resting his head on the bit of thigh not occupied by guitar; is trembling, very faintly.*
Kai: *lets the song trail off after taking in Axel's appearance, setting the guitar aside and stroking his hair* Axel?
ninAxel: *shakes his head, wrapping his arms around Kai's leg and sort of burrowing against him*
Kai: *goes quiet again, petting his hair and wondering what to say*
ninAxel: *just sort of wants to sleep for a long time. x_x sighs shakily, rubbing his cheek against Kai's leg*
Kai: *>> headscritch?*
ninAxel: *hhhhh mumbles quietly, but relaxes a bit and stops trembling*
Kai: *keeps headscritching, smoothing Axel's hair down every so often*
ninAxel: *takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, twisting to look up at Kai, still not saying anything, but looking a little calmer and more composed than he did when he came in*
Kai: *stills his hand, looking back down at Axel in concern*
ninAxel: *manages a weak smile; his voice is quiet and a little rough, when he speaks* 'm okay. I-I just went to uh. A really sucky place, that I haven't been to in a long time.
Kai: You're very loud in that sucky place, you know. *looks a bit sad as he says this*
ninAxel: *looks sheepish* Yeah, I... I know. *ducks his head guiltily* I'm not sure I've ever been that angry at someone, and I just... I don't exactly know where it all came from, either.
Kai: *sinks off his chair so they're more on level with each other, placing a hand on his knee* I understand that you were angry. I was too, even if it didn't seem like it.
ninAxel: *leans against the chair and wraps his arms around his knees* ...I'm still angry at him. I don't even know if I should be, or just upset, or sad or something. *headknees*
Kai: It's a complicated situation. *scoots beside Axel, leaning against him a little* He's left us. You have a right to be mad. But... it upset him too, all of this. The reactions didn't help. He grew up with loving guardians and friends, and compared to how much time he spent with them, the time with us was... very short. *sighs softly*
ninAxel: *leans against also* I know, it's just that... he seemed so much more tense and worried around his own Riku, and so much happier around the one here. I can't figure out how he could leave that behind. And Riku's in so much pain from it, and putting up a tough front, and he shouldn't have to, especially not now that he's a free soul again. *curls up on himself more* They were both so happy before we ever went down there.
Kai: Unfortunately, the universe is bigger than our ship. For all that the Room did to us, we were also much freer from responsibility. *wraps an arm around him, nuzzling his hair* Life has its ups and downs, and all we can do is meet the bad stuff and plow through it. Things will get better. Maybe Sora didn't make the best choice, but he did and is doing what he thinks he needs to do. Yeah, Riku is hurt. All we can do for that is try and help him get over it, and be there for him. *goes quiet for a moment, trying to think of what else to say and idly rubbing Axel's back/side (not to be mistaken for his backside, which is not being rubbed)*
ninAxel: (Damn, you went and got my hopes up.)
ninAxel: . . . *petulantly; is possibly sulking inside the safety of his fetal position* It's still not fair.
Kai: *presses a kiss to his head* No, it's not. Life isn't, a lot, but we make the most of what we get and to hell with the unfairness of it all.
ninAxel: *this is just one of those things he doesn't understand and never will :<* *picks his head up a little to yawn* 'm gonna call Sora in a couple of days and apologize for being such an asshole. I'm still mad at him, but I didn't need to drag all my shit out to harrass him with.
Kai: *kisses his cheek this time, once he's done yawning* That's good. Even if you're angry with him, you shouldn't let it create a rift between you two. We won't be seeing him as often anymore, after all.
ninAxel: *makes a face; sulky again* Or ever.
Kai: *pinches his side* We'll see him again. It's easy enough to get our disguises on and go down to visit him, and Ammy asked him to check in every two days with his communicator, though I'm sure he'll have a few recordings set up for some of those calls.
ninAxel: *aaa squirms D8* It won't be the same, but I guess it's better than nothing.
Kai: Of course. *nuzzle*
ninAxel: *leans against, yawning again* *should probably just be put to bed and possibly given some tissues in case he breaks down again*
Kai: *yeah, sees that. nudges him a little* C'mon, let's go to our room.
ninAxel: *nods and unfolds himself to stand up shakily, extending a hand to Kai to help him up*
Kai: *takes the hand and stands up himself, holding onto Axel's hand and grabbing his guitar with his free hand*
ninAxel: *leads the way to their room and pushes the door open when they get there, making a beeline for the bed*
Kai: *sets the guitar down, moving to give the bunny a hello scritch, then heads for the bed as well*
ninAxel: *sprawled face down on the bed, not even up on it completely >>;*
Kai: *.... pokes his bum*
ninAxel: Nrgh. *flaps a hand vaguely at him*
Kai: *pokepoke* I can't cuddle you if you're not on the bed completely. *poutyface*
ninAxel: *oozes further up onto the bed, finally curling up and attempting to burrow under the covers while on top of them*
Kai: *moves onto the bed as well, tugging the covers out from under Axel and pulling them over the both of them*
ninAxel: *curls up close to him, feeling quite drained and exhausted and sort of like someone else has been using his body, even though Hachibi would be offended if anyone thought any of that came from him* *mumbles* Think I'll just sleep for about three days.
Kai: *snuggles, wrapping an arm around him* I'll make sure there's lots to eat when you wake up.
