trina tagged me to "list your seven current favorite songs no matter what they are and then tag seven people", and i'll see what i can do about it.
in no particular order:
1. trains - world/inferno friendship society. the line "we will never run into one another on trains" alone would have sold me on it, but i love the melody and the shuffling rhythm and jack's voice and really, the whole thing.
2. this little ukulele/ukulele me! - stephin merritt. they're two different songs, but i love them both for the same reasons. they're stephin merritt-composed, they feature ukuleles, and they're ABOUT ukuleles. <3.
3. hotel song - regina spektor. so cute, so bouncy, so singable, with typical regina-esque quirks.
4. king of carrot flowers, pts. 1-3 - neutral milk hotel. it never gets old.
5. wishful thinking - the ditty bops. incredibly catchy, with lovely tight harmonies, and a video that i love.
6. only anarchists are pretty - world/inferno again. can't get it out of my head.
7. requiem for the punter's club - the lucksmiths. i magically found their out-of-print midweek midmorning ep at brass city records for like three bucks, and it features this song with the memorable line "sometimes you want to go where everybody knows you're drunk".
