Rachel does still need to learn to be more gracious. The more I think about it, the more I realize this is exactly how it goes, with Kurt ended up sacrificing his joy of winning to comfort her (which he'd never ask her or Blaine to do). Kurt did say that her performance was good directly after the challenge, and complimented the hell out of her when she was whining and moaning. She's going to have to deal with failure better than that, if she wants to stay in show business, but it was also probably humiliation that she'd acted that way knowingly.

I'm not exactly bouncing with the continuation of Hummelberry; I thought they'd have a more sustained fight and it might last a bit longer (maybe get us "What is this Feeling" from Wicked). That would have allowed them to straighten out other problems, but since this was obviously Kurt going out of his way to teach Rachel something for her own good (so she doesn't end up the next Cassie July), I get why it was one episode. With Adam around, maybe Kurt will continue to demand better treatment, since he now knows what it's like to have a friend who actually supports you. It's going to have to be a different challenge, if we can ever get her to do that, and not a direct confrontation/singing battle.

I think they might have had it go to at least TWO episodes, but:

--Santana is moving in
--You have the wedding, so more Klaine emphasis (and Finchel)

i was SO happy Kurt told Rachel that he blew the note purposely in Defying Gravity (nice call back, Brad!). And Kurt knew what a blow it was for Rachel to lose the diva!off, especially because no one (except Brody) would really be on her side anymore. Good for Kurt to be steadfast (and to have Adam by his side!).

I love how supportive Adam is, b/c he needs it. He was going to just focus on fighting the NYADA peeps and consoling Rachel. Thankfully, he had someone there to give him props, too.

Now I am SO curious about Adam, and Kadam, and hope that Klaine stay apart (even if you are a Klainer, hopefully people will see that Kurt needs Adam right now).

It's Glee. They have to do their time wasting stuff. Although I think this season has been better about not having episodes that are just... pointless.

That Defying Gravity reveal. I have been waiting for that for four fucking years, dude. I can't even. There were so many times when I wanted to write it into a fanfic, but it's just so hard to work it in organically, unless Rachel smugly brings it up. Pretty slick of Brad.

You have to know that Kurt will always take care of his friends, even if they have hurt him deeply, or completely disregarded his feelings. So I'm proud of him for following up on the lesson and scooping Rachel back up off her ass when he blew her away again. Which officially makes him maybe the best teacher on the show, because Sue or Cassie or Carmen will knock you down, but you have to pick your damn self up, even if you don't know how.

Even the part of me that kind of wants Kurt and Blaine to get back together after they've grown up and worked through their issues independently and then together that made them so codependant (which has not happened yet, no matter how much people want them to make out) is anxious that they will slam them back together TOO SOON and cheat us of what Adam could bring to Kurt as a friend AND a boyfriend.

NOTHING'S FINE I'M TORN!!!

Then again, they stuck with keeping Brittana apart despite obvious pressure, so maybe we have hope.

I agree with all of this. Unless a Klainer is a hardcore Blarrenstan, he/she cannot want Klaine back together, not yet. They both have a lot of healing (Kurt) and growth (Blaine) to go through. Adam is perfect for Kurt--supportive, unconditional support, the kind he gets from Burt (usually) but no one else.

I'd cry if they brought in Adam for nothing, but he's very popular, they spent a lot of time casting the part, and Oliver is marvelous. I think he'll be around for a while, even if just a friend. And I am happy to have Hummelberry together, b/c they will need them against Santana causing havoc. I hope she treats Kurt better--she never has. Maybe Rachel can help.

Yeah, Kurt can be snarky, but in the end he is there for all of his friends. Not everyone else i--actually, pretty mucn no one else is.

Santana has gotten (slightly) better over the course of last year, going from openly shaming and bullying him to starting to pull her punches and treat Kurt almost affectionately and trying to go to bat for him and Blaine. Although she's TERRIBLE at being affectionate without being insulting or condescending, even with Brittany. Maybe she should just close her mouth and punch his arm and pull his hair so he knows she likes him. I've talked with other people about how she calls Kurt "Lady Hummel" and referred to him as "Porcelain" with Brittany (both of which are Sue Sylvester-esque names for Kurt that she uses and thinks are okay), but we haven't seen her do this to his face. Yet. Waiting for Kurt to hear the "Lady Hummel" bit, because he did stand up to Sue over calling him Lady.

OR, waiting for Adam snowed in with them to hear her calling him Lady Hummel or something equally offensive. I shouldn't get him hopes so high up for this episode.

I don't think Rachel has any kind of framework for which to teach Santana how to be nicer to Kurt, although maybe she can at least call her on it, and Santana can shoot back at Rachel what SHE does, and they can make the realization together that they need to work harder or lose him to better friends. And then Kurt comes in from the fire escape/roof where he's been hiding from them and they've baked him cookies and are acting super nice, so he is suspicious and weirded out.
